One minute you were there, and the next... Gone.
There was a fight between the Axis powers and the Allies. It was supposed to be a small ordeal. However, when you had shoved your big brother Germany out of the way of one of England's spells, things had become far more serious.
"Vhat did you do vith mein schwester, black sheep?" Germany snarled, grabbing England by the collar of his military uniform. "Vhere is she?!"
"I don't know!" England panicked, "I must have misplaced a letter or mispronounced a word-"
Germany growled and shoved him on the ground.
"I-I'm sorry! It shouldn't have happened; it was an accident!"
Germany took out a pistol and stalked towards him. The other Allies took a step back and held their breath.
"W-wait!" England called.
"Germany-san, do not harm him."
"Vhat?! Japan, did you see vhat he did?"
Hai, but he is the onry one that can find out how to bring _______-chan back."
Germany stood, his gun shaking in his grasp. He put it away and pulled England up by the base of his tie.
"You find out how to fix this." He whispered. "Or I vill kill you."
England was thrown down, and the Allies and Axis parted ways.
You stood and watched your brother shout at England. What were they talking about. Nothing had happened. You were right there. As the allies and Axis parted ways, you reached up and tugged on your big brother's sleeve.
"Bruder, what's going on? Why ore you so angry, big bruder."
Germany kept walking. He didn't even turned to face you.
"Big bruder," You called, "Please look at me! Did I do something wrong?"
Not even a glance.
You turned to the ever stoic, yet kind, Japan.
"Japan, what's wrong with bruder,"
You ran up to Italy, and wrapped your arms around him. He would take pity on you. The small Italian seemed to subconsciously shake you off.
"We're-a gonna get ______ back, ve, Germany?"
What did he mean?
"Ja." Came Germany's short response. He sounded rather choked up. You walked around infront of Germany who had stopped walking momentarily. Looking at his face almost made you want to cry. Never had you seen him so sad before in your like.
"Big bruder..." You took his hand nobody noticed. Nobody noticed at all. Finally, you realized. You were entirely unseen to them.
All the Axis kept on their long trek back. You trailed along behind them, rubbing tears from your (e/c) eyes and feeling very much like a small child once more.
The news had hit Prussia pretty hard. When he heard about what happened, his ruby eyes lost their gleam, and he was less apt to shenanigans. It made you sad. What suprised you was Austria. He sat quietly on his piano bench as Germany explained what had happened. He then silently gathered up his half written songs and went to him room.
You were glad that he wasn't so affected by it as to lose his heart like your two brothers. However, you were a little miffed. What, were you not important to him? He couldn't shed even a tear for little old you?
You stalked around the house. You chatted with an unresponsive Germany. Made jokes to a very depressed Prussia. Of course, nobody could hear you anyways.
Everyone in the household roused at a knock at the door.
"Hello, Germany. I'm hear about ________."
It was Prussia that opened the door. When he glared down at England, he looked just as fierce and indomitable as he was in the old days.
You watched as his anger fell away and his expression dulled.
"This way, England."
All three men - Germany, Austria, and Prussia - sat down on the couch across from England. You were surprised Austria had come.
"You see, I still don't know what happened and how she was cursed."
"Vhat?!" Prussia snarled.
"B-but, there is a remedy! A sort of cure-all that can break any spell."
"Vhat is it?" Ludwig promted.
"Well, true love's kiss."
Prussia choked on his beer. "Vhat, you actually expect us zat bullshwiesse?!"
"No, it' completely true!"
"And how is zat supposed to help us?" Austria whispered.
Everyone turned to look at him.
"All zis time," he growled, "We expected zat ve vould be able to help ______, and you come here with talk of 'true love's kiss."
England sat with his head bent in shame. Austria was seething with silent rage.
"Get. Out." Austria got up off the couch and stood over England. "Now."
England nodded, collected his coat, and left. Austria once more picked up his piano music and went up to his room.
You generally slept with Germany at night. You didn't like being alone in the big house especially when nobody could even see you. However, tonight Germany had locked the door to his room because he didn't want to be disturbed, and you couldn't get in. Prussia smelled like beer so that wasn't really an option.
He would kill you if he knew you were doing this, but what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him, right?
You tiptoed to him room and snuggled into the covers with him. His back was to you. It took you a moment to notice his shoulders shaking. He whimpered.
You walked around to the other side of the bed so that you could see his face. He was gripping his pillow in his arms and sobbing into it.
"_______." He cried. "_______, _______, _______." You laid next to him as he quietly cried out your name. You felt your eyes well up with tears. He really did care, then, huh?
You hugged him and stroked his hair.
"Hey," You shushed. "Hey, it's okay. It's fine Austria, I'm right here."
"_______, vhere did you go? I never told you." He broke off into heart wrenching sobs.
"Never told me what?" You whispered.
"I never told you. I vould tell you a million times now. I vouldn't care vhat you vould think."
"Shhh, don't worry about it."
He never heard, you, though. Not a word.
You were outrageously bored one day and extremely depressed. You slept with Austria for a week straight and he never failed to cry himself to sleep. Germany had borrowed a whole bunch of books on spells from the library and was sifting through them. Prussia was hanging out with friends. The only person you were watching right now was Austria.
He was at his piano writing sheet music. He seemed to be immersing himself more and more in his work since your disappearance.
You walked over to the piano. You're country was very musically oriented so you had no trouble reading the notes.
You sat down next to him and rested you elbow on the keys, expecting it to not make any noise, seeing as that seemed to be the rules to your predicament.
But what you got was a cacophony of piano keys and a very startled Austrian.
You swept a hand down the piano experimentally, causing Austria to jump up from the bench and run a short distance away from the instrument. So he COULD hear you.
"Dude, your piano is possessed."
"It's not possessed, idiot!" Austria barked. "Besides, I don't believe in ghosts."
"Zhen explain zhat." Prussia laughed and pointed at the piano you were playing. They couldn't see you, but they could definitely hear the music.
"I don't care vhat you say. They is so such thing as ghosts!"
"Kesesesese~! Ja, vhatever, loser. I am getting zis on tape." Prussia was setting up a ghost camera in front of the piano. Germany stood in the back of the room and looked on with mild amusement.
You began to read some of Austria's sheet music. It looked like a duet. When you started to play the Treble cleff, it reminded you of a love song.
"Hey, nobody is supposed to hear zat yet, hear me!"
"KESESESESEsesese~! Look, Vest, he's talking to the piano."
Austria strode over and set some sheet music down in front of you.
"If you vant to play somezing, zen look through zis book. Just stay away from mein music!"
You looked at the first page and began to play the minuet he had set out, then moved onto the waltz on the next sheet.
"Vest..." Prussia began, "He communicated vith it. He is now prone to possession. The devil is coming for your soul first!"
"Vill you shut up you imbecile?!"
"Ready?" Austria asked you.
You nodded, even though he couldn't see you.
You both began to play a beautiful duet that Austria had composed himself. This one was perilous and intense.
When you were done, he clapped for you. You tiptoed your way down the keys, making him laugh.
You were glad he was laughing again. He still cried sometimes, and you would play a happy song on the piano for him. It had been almost a half a year since the incident. You played the piano every day and spoke with your brothers. They didn't speak back, though. In fact, the most interaction you got was with Austria on the piano.
Austria sat down in the chair in the piano room. He looked towards the piano.
"Will you play something for me?" He whispered.
You smiled to your self and played the openings of a few different songs as if the say, 'What ever you want me to play.'
He grinned. "Moonlight Sonata."
You smiled and played the few opening bars of the song. It was a very popular song, and rightly so. It was one of the most beautiful songs there was.
Austria stayed awake and smiled sleepily. The song was very long and as you finished the last movement, he drifted away.
All curled up on the chair, you realized something about him as you observed his peaceful sleeping expression. You hadn't seen this side of him until you had disappeared. And you found yourself wishing that you could speak to him, if only for a little while, so that you could tell him one more thing.
This day was just like any other. You greeted your brothers and walked directly to the piano room where Austria was waiting. He was flipping through a few different songs. You played a few notes, scaring him.
"There you are! I thought you weren't coming."
You played some angry notes in bass cleff.
"Yeah, sorry." He smiled. "when have you not come?"
You had a wonderful day. You played famous and brand new musical pieces together. He seemed to smile a lot more lately.
"There's one more that I want to play. It was for a person that I miss dearly, and I haven't given up on them yet. But I want somebody to hear it, at least."
He pulled out the love song that he had taken away from you when you had first started playing.
"Will you do the honors?"
You answered with a few notes on the piano.
As you both played the duet, you marveled at what a magnificent composer Austria was. He fit themes of calm, anger, and sadness in the song. Through the end, it became a happier, more content sound. You were stuck for words when you finished. It was the most tragic, beautiful thing you had ever heard.
You needed to tell him. Even if he didn't hear you and would never hear you, you had to tell him.
"Roderich," You took his face in your hands. "Dear Roderich, I love you."
You leaved forward and kisses him. He seemed to lean into it as if he knew you were there, but that was impossible. When he opened his eyes, he stared at you. He stared AT YOU. He was literally looking AT YOU. Not through you or past you or over you. At. You.
"C-can you... See me?"
He enveloped you in a hug and rocked you back and forth. You were both sobbing and clinging to each other.
"I love you, _______." He whispered into your (h/l) (h/c) hair. "I love you. I love you. I love you."
"I love you too, Roderich."
You kissed each other again. He arms encircled you in a firm embrace as if he was afraid you would disappear again. You cupped his face with one hand and buried the other in his soft, brown hair. He kissed you desperately and needily, and you moved your lips against his with the same fervor. After you broke apart, you simply sat and held each other for the longest time, staring at each other's faces.
"I love you, _______ ________. And I swear zhat I vill never let you go again."
